The Message That Was Never Meant For Me
Some stories begin with grand gestures.
Others begin with perfect timing.
Ours began with a mistake.
It was a Thursday evening.
I had just returned home after one of the longest workdays I could remember.
The city outside my apartment window was glowing beneath thousands of lights.
Cars moved endlessly.
People hurried somewhere important.
Meanwhile, I sat alone on my couch scrolling mindlessly through my phone.
Then a text message arrived.
"Don't forget tomorrow at 5. Mom is excited to finally meet you."
I stared at the screen.
The message wasn't meant for me.
Someone had sent it to the wrong number.
Normally I would have ignored it.
But for some reason I replied.
"I think you have the wrong person."
I had no idea that single message would completely change my life.
